Shah alam: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has called on the public to make full use of the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application to report crimes or viral incidents more efficiently and safely, as opposed to sharing them on social media.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) director Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin emphasized that spreading information about criminal incidents online before filing an official report can hinder the effectiveness of enforcement actions. He highlighted the importance of the VSP app, urging the public to utilize it for reporting various cases, not just for notifying police about balik kampung trips during festive seasons.

He made these remarks following the 10th Police Undergraduate Voluntary Corps (SUKSIS) passing-out parade and presentation of appointment certificates at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor (DATC) UiTM. Noor Hisam further explained that PDRM's special unit actively monitors information spread across digital platforms to ensure that enforcement authorities are responsive to current security issues. The VSP application's widespread use facilitates transparent reporting and aids authorities in timely responses.

In addition, PDRM plans to enhance efforts to promote VSP registration nationwide, aiming to maximize interactive communication channels between the police and the public. Regarding the school environment, Noor Hisam mentioned that police are also enhancing the role of school liaison officers and increasing patrol frequency to address bullying issues among students. Collaboration with the Ministry of Education and State Education Departments is being strengthened, and school managements are encouraged to report bullying cases promptly for transparent investigations.
