Pahang: Pahang police will record the statements of several witnesses to complete investigations of a public university student who claimed he was slapped by a politician in Janda Baik, Bentong on May 20.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman stated that the student, aged 23, lodged a police report at 12.11 pm last Saturday, May 30, regarding the alleged slapping incident that took place during a university programme.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a 62-year-old man, identified as a politician, is believed to have slapped the left cheek of the victim in front of several individuals at the scene. The victim filed a report due to dissatisfaction with the politician's actions, although he did not sustain serious injuries.
In a statement, the police chief noted that both the suspect and the victim have provided their statements, and the police will gather testimonies from additional witnesses to complete the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor in due course.
