Kemaman: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is conducting an investigation into the owner of the Facebook account 'Ahmad Mu'min' following a post, which is suspected to contain elements of sedition and insult against the royal institution, the Malaysian government, and the PDRM.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the investigation is being spearheaded by the Kemaman district police chief, Supt Mohd Razi Mohd Rosli. This follows a report lodged by a 29-year-old individual at 11.14 am, prompting the police to invoke Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"The police will investigate the identity of the account owner and subsequently conduct an investigation according to legal procedures," stated Supt Mohd Razi Mohd Rosli. The contentious post from 'Ahmad Mu'min' allegedly accused the police of kicking a motorcyclist during a joint operation at Pantai Penunjuk, Kijal, at 6.30 pm the previous day.

Supt Mohd Razi further clarified, "The allegation that the police kicked one of the motorcyclists is baseless and this can be seen through the recording that went viral on social media." He urged the public to verify the content of any potentially inflammatory posts, emphasizing that the operation was initiated in response to public grievances about illegal racing activities that disrupt public order.
