Police Resolve Assault Case Involving Teen With Disabilities In Belaga

Kuala lumpur: Police have confirmed that the case involving a teenager with disabilities who was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths in Sungai Asap, Belaga has been amicably resolved.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Belaga police chief DSP Jimbai Bala stated that the incident gained public attention following the circulation of a video and several photos on the ‘Borneo’ Facebook page on June 28. These visuals showed the teenager being assaulted.

An investigation by the Belaga Criminal Investigation Division on the same day led to the identification of five male suspects, aged between 16 and 17. The 16-year-old victim, accompanied by his father, filed a report at the Sungai Asap police post on June 29. Subsequently, both parties and their families were brought together.

A mutual agreement was reached during the meeting, resolving the matter amicably. Jimbai highlighted that the victim’s father decided not to pursue further legal action. He also urged the public to stop sharing the video or images of his son to protect the family’s privacy and dignity.

Police further advised the public to exercise greater care and responsibility when sharing sensitive content online, particularly involving minors and individuals with disabilities.
