Police Receive Four Reports Over Rally at Dataran Merdeka

Kuala lumpur: Police have received four reports in connection with the rally at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday, including one case involving an effigy resembling Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim being caned near the National Mosque. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad confirmed these incidents, highlighting the gravity of the reports received.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the other three reports filed were related to the use of drones during the event. The case involving the effigy has been escalated to the Classified Crime Investigation Unit in Bukit Aman. It is being investigated under Section 41 of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 504 of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, reflecting the seriousness of the allegations.

Mohamed Usuf mentioned that the reports concerning the drones have been forwarded to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) for further action. He emphasized that despite the rally being conducted peacefully and with the necessary approvals, any misconduct by participants would be subject to investigation, ensuring adherence to the law and regulations.
