Police Probe Parties Manipulating Kampung Sungai Baru Issue

Kuala lumpur: Police will investigate whether certain parties exploited the Kampung Sungai Baru issue, which triggered a stone-throwing incident that injured a senior police officer this morning. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine whether political opportunists had deliberately manipulated the situation to create tension and unease among the public.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Home Minister emphasized that while some parties may appear to defend the people, their actions may incite unrest by spreading false information, making accusations, promoting violence, and fueling hatred. This was conveyed during a press conference held today, where he stressed that the freedom to assemble should not be abused through unlawful acts, such as injuring public servants.

The Home Minister also revealed that he had communicated with the Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, to ensure swift and firm action is taken against those responsible for the violence. He stated that the perpetrators would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The incident in question involved Dang Wangi Police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, who sustained a head injury. The injury is believed to have been caused by a rock thrown by an unidentified individual during a tense enforcement operation in Kampung Sungai Baru, Kuala Lumpur. This occurred as authorities carried out a court-ordered operation to cut off electricity supply and demolish several homes in the area.
