Police Probe Claims Of Man Assaulted During Dungun Operation

Dungun: Police are investigating allegations that a man sustained injuries after being beaten by police during an Ops Samseng Jalanan in Dungun recently. Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairuddin stated that an investigation paper has been opened under Section 326 of the Penal Code, emphasizing that police will not protect any individual found to be involved in the incident.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Khairi confirmed that a report regarding the incident has been received and that investigations will be carried out. The allegation involves an individual who claims he was beaten. "If the findings confirm that the allegation is true and involves police personnel, I will not protect any perpetrator and firm action will be taken,' he said at a press conference following the Terengganu police chief's monthly assembly.

A social media post recently went viral, showing several images of a man with injuries, allegedly sustained after being beaten by police personnel during a traffic enforcement operation. Mohd Khairi acknowledged the existence of a viral video related to the alleged incident but noted that the act of beating as claimed was not visible in the footage.

He further mentioned that the Dungun district police chief has been instructed to carry out additional investigations, including identifying the individuals involved in the case. "At present, investigations are ongoing, including calling in the complainant to record his statement. If there are witnesses who saw the incident, their information will also be taken into account," he added.
