Port dickson: Police have arrested nine individuals suspected of being involved in an armed gang fight in Lukut, Port Dickson, last Saturday. Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad stated that the men, aged between 20 and 40, were apprehended around Port Dickson, with the first arrest made within 24 hours. The remaining suspects were detained over the following days.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, authorities are still searching for one more suspect related to the case. Alzafny noted that some of those arrested have previous criminal records, though the exact motive for the incident remains under investigation under Section 326/427 of the Penal Code. The four victims, who are acquainted with each other, including a child injured in the incident, are currently receiving hospital treatment and are reported to be stable.
In a separate case, Alzafny mentioned ongoing investigations into an explosion suspected to involve an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Desa Palma area, Nilai, on December 22. A 62-year-old male suspect, initially treated in the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital Red Zone, has been relocated to a different ward for further questioning. The Bomb Disposal Unit confirmed the explosion was due to mishandling explosives, with the suspect believed to have acted alone.
Previously, the suspect was arrested in Batang Benar, Nilai, at 4:15 pm, suffering burns to his face, body, hands, and feet, and was remanded until January 3. Additionally, Alzafny reported the arrest of nine individuals, including a woman in her 20s, to assist in investigating a fight at a Nilai supermarket last Sunday. This case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
Alzafny also announced the establishment of the Disaster Response Team, comprising one officer and four members, to enhance rapid response capabilities during emergencies and disasters. While other agencies like the fire department and Malaysia Civil Defence Force exist, this team aims to provide initial assistance pending the arrival of main rescue teams. The team's membership is expected to grow over time.
