Bangi: The strategic relationship between the security forces and media practitioners continues to be strengthened, this time through the organisation of a friendly football match. The match between the Kajang district police headquarters (IPD) and the Crime Journalists Association (CiJA) was held at the Azman Hashim Sports Arena, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi, near here last night.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the police and journalists to ensure crime news coverage is delivered accurately and responsibly. “This strategic cooperation is not only focused on daily tasks, but is strengthened through leisure activities such as sports to strengthen mutual trust and understanding,” he said after the match, which saw IPD Kajang emerge victorious with a score of 5-3.
Naazron also highlighted that aside from fostering sportsmanship, such activities serve as a platform to promote a healthy lifestyle among IPD Kajang residents. Meanwhile, CiJA president Safeek Affendy Razali noted that the CiJA team was comprised of 20 media personnel from various notable organizations, including the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Sinar Harian, Berita Harian, Kosmo!, Astro Awani, Harian Metro, Utusan Malaysia, and The Star.
Sharing his thoughts on the event, Safeek Affendy Razali remarked, “Apart from being a recreational activity, it is also a symbol of our commitment in creating a closer working relationship with the authorities, in line with the spirit of the National Sports Day which was celebrated recently.”
