Kuala lumpur: Negeri Sembilan police have issued permits for 253 out of 276 applications for political talks and campaign activities during the 16th state election, which covers the period from July 18 up until yesterday. Police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad announced that all approved events are under the supervision of the Royal Malaysia Police to ensure they comply with the law and do not compromise public safety or order.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, during the same period, police received 14 reports and initiated nine investigation papers, with two of these filed yesterday due to election-related offences. "Both investigation papers were opened under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief causing loss or damage to property," stated Datuk Alzafny Ahmad in a formal statement today. These cases reportedly involve the removal of political party flags belonging to candidates contesting in the state polls.

Alzafny further assured that the overall security and public order situation throughout the election process remains stable and under control. He urged the public to continue obeying the law, respect the democratic process, and cooperate fully with PDRM officers on duty to ensure that the Negeri Sembilan state election proceeds in a peaceful, harmonious, and orderly manner.

The state election's early voting is set to take place on July 28, with the main polling day scheduled for August 1.
