Port klang: Police have opened an investigation paper into the death of a dog during a stray dog capture operation in Taman Teluk Gedung Indah, Port Klang, three days ago, following allegations of animal cruelty.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, South Klang police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey confirmed that the dog died during an incident around 10.50 pm on July 29 in front of a residential house. The dog's carcass has been sent to the Selangor Veterinary Department headquarters for a post-mortem examination.

The operation was carried out by the Royal Klang City Council (MBDK) with the cooperation of local residents. A video currently circulating on social media shows a group of men tying up and dragging a dog while a woman pleads for its release, which has raised public concerns.

Lim stated that the case is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code. He urged the public not to share the video to prevent unnecessary public alarm.

Yesterday, MBDK announced that they are leaving the matter to the police for a thorough investigation. The operation was conducted following formal complaints from residents about safety concerns due to the increasing number of stray dogs.

The council explained that the enforcement operation was carried out in accordance with By-law 17(1) of the MPK Dog Licensing and Breeding Kennels By-laws 2007. This was done with the support of the Health, Community and Sustainable Development Committee (JKKPM), and the local councillor had been informed prior to the operation.
