Bentong: Police are hunting three men who fled after a fatal three-vehicle crash on Jalan Mempaga-Sertik in Bentong last Monday. They are also suspected of being linked to a vehicle theft case.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Acting Pahang police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob stated that the suspects, aged between their 20s and 30s, have been identified. The individual who rented the vehicle to them has been detained. The man, in his 30s, tested positive for drugs and is currently in remand pending court charges.

The incident took place when a motorcyclist was killed following a collision between a Perodua Myvi and a Honda HR-V on Jalan Mempaga-Sertik, Bentong. The Bentong police chief previously mentioned that the driver and two passengers of the Perodua Myvi allegedly abandoned the car and escaped into a nearby oil palm plantation post-crash.

In another development, Azry Akmar reported that police are investigating five Orang Asli individuals detained for allegedly obstructing civil servants during an operation in a forest reserve in Bera on Tuesday. The group, consisting of four women and one man, was arrested on September 15 and remanded for a day under Section 186 of the Penal Code before being released on bail.

Azry Akmar called for community cooperation with police, District and Land Office, and other government agencies conducting operations and resurveying work at the forest reserve site. He emphasized that illegal blockades or personal actions hinder civil servants from performing their duties effectively.

He also advised the public to verify information before posting or spreading claims on social media and encouraged cooperation with enforcement authorities to ensure smooth operations.
