Police Helicopter Involved In MITSATOM Exercise Accident, All Five On Board Safe

Johor: A Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) helicopter was involved in an accident this morning during an honour flypast simulation held as part of the Multilateral Nuclear Security Detection Exercise (MITSATOM 2025) near Sungai Pulai here in Johor. The incident occurred in waters near the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) jetty in Gelang Patah, the venue of the exercise involving four countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that the accident involved an AS355N helicopter with the registration number 9M-PHG. The helicopter had departed from the Tanjung Kupang police station at 9.51 am with five individuals on board, including the pilot. A Bernama journalist who was at the scene to cover the programme witnessed the incident firsthand.

All five on board were rescued by marine police and transported to the MMEA jetty. They were being transferred to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru for medical examination and treatment. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia stated that a further investigation would be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport in accordance with Part XXVI Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
