Ipoh: Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate known as 'Boy Lembu' following the arrest of four suspects, including a foreigner, in a special operation carried out at Pengkalan Utama, Lahat, near here.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ipoh police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abang Ahmad stated that the arrests were made possible through two weeks of intelligence gathering by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) of the Ipoh Police Headquarters. The suspects, aged 17 to 50, were apprehended around 7 pm. Authorities seized 33 plastic packets containing compressed pieces of dried leaves suspected to be ganja from an old lorry near an abandoned mine, which had served as a temporary drug storage facility. The seized drugs, weighing approximately 32 kilograms, are valued at RM94,000 and could potentially cater to 42,000 drug addicts.
He further mentioned that only the foreign national among the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, while the oldest suspect, aged 50, had previous criminal and drug-related charges. The syndicate is believed to have been operating in the Ipoh area since January 2025. All suspects have been remanded for five days to aid in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, police also conducted a separate raid, apprehending a 37-year-old drug dealer at a rental house in Tasek Square Residential, Kampung Tawas. During the raid, authorities found seven transparent plastic packages containing 114 grams of syabu, valued at RM13,680. Additional items seized included drug paraphernalia such as digital weighing scales, glass bottles, and empty plastic packages. The suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine, had 10 prior records. He has also been remanded until Sunday to assist in investigations under the same section of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
