Selangor: Police raided 22 entertainment outlets and restaurants converted into pubs and karaoke rooms allegedly run by foreigners during Op Mega Pusat Hiburan in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur last night. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M. Kumar said the operation involved the department’s Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7), the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur CID D7s, local authorities, as well as the Fire and Rescue Department.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 16 premises in Selangor and six in Kuala Lumpur were raided. These establishments are believed to be operating without licenses and employing illegal foreign workers. The raids led to the arrest of 288 individuals, aged between 18 and 51, comprising Myanmar, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationals.
The detainees are being investigated under multiple laws, including Section 186 of the Penal Code, Entertainment Act, Excise Act 1976, Customs Act 1976, and Immigration Act 1959/63. Cash, entertainment equipment, various brands of alcohol, and several operational documents were also seized during the raids.
