Police Analyzing CCTV to Identify Suspects in Mahathir’s Grandchild’s Robbery

Kuala lumpur: Police are meticulously examining CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspects responsible for the robbery at the residence of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s grandchild in Bukit Ledang. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, led to an estimated loss of RM1.8 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan confirmed the ongoing investigation. He stated, “We are looking into it and as of yesterday, we have yet to be able to identify (the suspect). We are also studying CCTV footage of the victim’s residence.” The residence, owned by Mizan Mahathir, was targeted while only domestic workers were present.

The break-in was discovered by a domestic helper around 3 pm when they noticed the back gate’s padlock had been severed, allowing the thieves to enter the property. Mohamed Usuf noted that the police are employing forensic methods to gather new leads in the case. He added that while most of the stolen items were old jewellery and possibly personal effects, the exact total and types of items are still being assessed.

The acting police chief urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
