Poh Kong Posts Higher Net Profit Of RM70.01 Mln In 3Q

Kuala lumpur: Poh Kong Holdings Bhd's net profit for the third quarter ended April 30, 2026 (3Q 2026) rose to RM70.01 million from RM47.60 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue also increased to RM585.57 million from RM533.93 million previously.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the jewellery retailer stated in a filing with Bursa Malaysia that revenue for the quarter under review was RM51.65 million higher than a year ago. "The increase in revenue was due mainly to the surge in gold price during the quarter under review," the company explained.

Poh Kong reported that earnings per share increased to 17.06 sen from 11.60 sen. Looking ahead, Poh Kong expressed optimism about Malaysia's gold jewellery industry, highlighting its strong growth and resilience in 2025, supported by both local and international demand.

Despite challenges such as inflation and currency fluctuations, the company remains confident that strong central bank buying, consumer spending, and safe haven inflows amid global geopolitical uncertainties will continue to drive demand for both jewellery and gold investment products. Poh Kong emphasized its commitment to monitoring the impact of current uncertainties on operations, honoring financial obligations, and continuously evaluating performance.

The company did not declare any dividend for the quarter under review.
