PNM Book Awards Honour 20 Local Works for Literary Excellence

Kuala lumpur: Twenty local works receive recognition through the National Library of Malaysia Book Awards (PNM) 2025/2026, organised by the Ministry of National Unity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the PNM Book Awards are the top platform recognising high-quality, impactful local works to boost the nation's literary industry. Themed Perbukuan Wadah Perpaduan Negara, the awards highlight books as a vital medium for uniting society, spreading knowledge, and strengthening national values and identity.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang stated that the PNM Book Awards 2025/2026 not only recognise writers' and publishers' excellence but also drive more creative, innovative, and globally competitive works. He emphasized that it also fosters strategic collaboration among industry players to strengthen the national literary ecosystem.

Keeping pace with technology, this edition launched a new Digital Book Readers' Choice Award, won by "Belajar Laravel Melalui Contoh" by Mohd Hafiz Suhaimi (Malay) and "Positive Emotions in Teaching and Learning" by Dr Tamil Selvan Ramis (English).

In the Adult Fiction category, "Sirat Figura" by W.B. Rendra (Malay); "Sembang Kopitiam-39A Bread and Butter Malaysian Stories" by Adrian Yuen Beng Lee and Bernard Manickam (English); "Liu Su Di" by Li Zishu (Chinese); and "Novel Sanivini" by S. Annamalai (Tamil) were awarded.

For the Adult Non-Fiction category, "Rumah Kelantan Tiang 12: Sebuah Perjuangan Memartabatkan Warisan" by Johan Ariff Ismail (Malay); "The Journey Of Ang Eng: Nyonya Kebaya Makers" by YuLin Lim, ChungHau Lim, and Peter Soh (English); "Yi Dong Bin Cheng: Yi Zuo Cheng Shi De Yi Shu Wen Hua Chuang Zao Li (Kesenian di Pulau Pinang: Kreativiti Seni dan Budaya Bandar)" by Dr Boey Teik Soon (Chinese); and "Carey Theevu: Tamilarin Varalaadru Tadam" by Dr S Arunasalam (Tamil) received accolades.

Pelangi Publishing Sdn Bhd was honoured with the Publisher Award, while Kalsom Taib and Hamidah Abdul Hamid received the Special Jury Award for Malaysia's Culinary Heritage.
