Kuala lumpur: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will hold an extraordinary meeting this Saturday (Feb 22) to discuss the appointment of a new chairman to replace Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. PN Chief Whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan announced that the meeting is scheduled for 3 pm following the PAS Central Committee meeting at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Takiyuddin explained that the extraordinary meeting is being convened in accordance with the coalition's constitution, which allows such a meeting when at least half of the key leadership of the member parties agree. With four parties in PN, the agreement of two parties suffices to hold the meeting. All parties, including Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), have expressed their agreement to convene. The meeting's agenda will primarily focus on two key issues: approving the resignation of the current PN chairman and appointing a new chairman. While the appointment of the Opposition Leader is not officially listed on the agenda, Takiyuddin did not dismiss the possibility of it being discussed during the meeting.
