Johor bahru: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's strategic guidance for the 16th general election (GE16) will be the central focus for over 5,000 delegates at the PH 2026 Convention scheduled for tomorrow. PH communications director Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasized the critical nature of Anwar's address as it aims to shape the coalition's strategy, especially with the parliamentary term already in its fourth year and the impending Johor and Melaka state elections (PRN).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi highlighted that the Prime Minister's speech will not only chart the course for PH to navigate the anticipated Johor and Melaka PRNs but will also lay the groundwork for GE16, which could occur within a year and a half. Fahmi shared this information with reporters after overseeing the final preparations for the Pakatan Harapan 2026 Convention at the Johor Persada International Convention Centre.
Fahmi stressed the importance of strengthening the machinery's initial efforts, considering that the current parliamentary term is set to conclude by the end of 2027. He noted that with the parliamentary term already three years in, the urgency to gear up for GE16 becomes evident as it approaches in just over a year.
Addressing the convention's organization, Fahmi mentioned that delegate attendance from across the nation is projected to surpass the initial estimate of 3,000 participants. Furthermore, a public meeting and inaugural talk are planned for the afternoon at the Puteri Wangsa state constituency, providing locals with a chance to engage with the coalition's leadership and hear their directives firsthand.
