Sarawak: Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has commended Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his successful efforts in elevating Malaysia’s image on the international stage. The Premier highlighted Anwar’s diplomatic approach, which emphasizes peace and national sovereignty, as a key factor in this achievement.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tan Sri Abang Johari praised the Prime Minister for playing a significant role in resolving issues between Cambodia and Thailand, showcasing Malaysia’s commitment to being a defender of peace. He remarked that Anwar’s involvement in the Cambodia-Thailand issue demonstrated to the world that peace is his ultimate objective. The Premier further noted that recent events in Doha, Qatar, have highlighted the disregard for national sovereignty and the peace that Malaysia advocates.
Reports from international media indicate that Zionist forces launched an attack on Doha, allegedly targeting Hamas political leaders involved in discussions on a US-backed Gaza ceasefire proposal. The attack in the Leqtaifiya area, carried out by approximately 15 fighter jets, resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, his office director, and a Qatari security officer, though top Hamas leaders reportedly survived.
In light of these developments, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed his receipt of an invitation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to attend the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on September 15. Anwar indicated that the summit would address recent developments in Gaza, Palestine, and the violent attacks by the Zionist regime, which he characterized as excessive.
The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak deputy premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, along with federal and state ministers.
