Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today wished all students, especially Year 1 pupils, a warm welcome back as the 2026 school session begins.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar conveyed his message through a Facebook post, urging parents to support their children’s education with prayers and by setting a good example. He expressed optimism for the students, particularly those embarking on their educational journey, emphasizing the importance of instilling knowledge and values that would contribute to the nation’s future.
The academic calendar for national and government-aided schools has resumed this January after undergoing adjustments due to COVID-19 since 2022. The school term for Group B schools, which includes Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, begins today.
Meanwhile, the school term for Group A schools in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, which started yesterday accommodating nearly one million students, has commenced without any issues.
