PM Anwar Urges Quick Action on Rural Infrastructure Initiatives

Putrajaya: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today directed the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) to expedite basic infrastructure projects that are crucial for the well-being of the people, particularly those in rural areas. The prime minister emphasized the importance of these projects, which include road facilities, electricity supply, solar power installations, water supply, rural connectivity roads, social amenity programmes, and rural affordable housing projects.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, underscored the necessity for comprehensive, accurate, and real-time monitoring of these projects. This approach ensures that any issues are promptly reported to the minister and subsequently to the Cabinet for immediate resolution. During a Facebook post today, Anwar highlighted the need for KKDW to prioritize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education for rural students. He also urged the ministry’s agencies to adopt proactive measures by establishing clear timelines and appropriate training durations for effective implementation.

The prime minister elaborated on these priorities while chairing a meeting with the KKDW leadership, led by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Minister of Rural and Regional Development, in Putrajaya. He mentioned that the meeting also covered discussions on improvements and policy reforms in an orderly and competitive manner, aligning with digital transformation and global economic shifts.

In addition to the meeting, Anwar shared that he participated in the Ihya’ Ramadan programme with the KKDW fraternity, where they attended a religious talk titled ‘Ramadan Yang Sempurna’, delivered by Ustaz Asri Hassan, Principal Assistant Director of the Human Resources Division at Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). Anwar expressed trust in KKDW personnel to remain dedicated to their duties during Ramadan, emphasizing the significance of fostering well-being and uplifting others as integral parts of religious practice. He concluded by expressing hope that the spiritual guidance from the ‘Madrasah of Ramadan’ would inspire greater dedication to serving the people, contributing to the enhancement of human dignity and quality.
