PM Anwar Urges People To Reject Racial Political Campaign

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the people not to be influenced by political campaigns that divide society based on race. He highlighted that many current political campaigns focus on racial sentiments, diverting attention from the real issues such as the welfare and future of the people and the importance of human values in the country's administration.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized, "Power is not a matter of political rhetoric or election manifestos. It is a matter of heart, soul, kindness, compassion and justice. That is what Malaysia needs." He expressed concern that too many political campaigns today revolve around race, creating fears that the Malays will lose their rights, the Chinese will take over, or Indians will gain certain advantages. He lamented that these campaigns rarely address the rights of ordinary people who live in hardship.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a groundbreaking ceremony for the development of permanent houses for residents of Bukit Kiara Longhouse. Anwar reiterated that within the framework of MANDANI Malaysia, issues of humanity, kindness, and compassion are prioritized in every government policy, action, and decision to ensure the well-being of the people.

He further stated that the principle requires the government to ensure fairness and protection of rights for all citizens, regardless of background, race, or religion. "We can defend Bahasa Melayu as the national language, protect the rights of Muslims and at the same time protect the rights of other communities," Anwar said, adding that the rights of one group do not necessarily deny the rights of others, emphasizing the importance of protecting the rights of all citizens in a majority Malay and Muslim country.
