PM Anwar Urges Muslims to Enrich Mosques with Educational and Religious Activities

Perai: Muslims are urged to enliven mosques through various knowledge-based and religious activities, particularly for women and young people. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this was due to the vital role mosques play in developing and empowering the Muslim community in the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of using mosques as centers for learning rather than platforms for spreading hatred or inciting prejudice, which he noted has become increasingly widespread. He encouraged the organization of learning classes and the creation of spaces for women and young people to expand their knowledge, stressing the importance of understanding based on the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Anwar highlighted that the advancement of the country is not solely dependent on technology and development, but also on kindness, good manners, and morals. He urged making mosques centers of knowledge, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. This was conveyed at the opening of Masjid Jamek Perai, where Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid were also present.

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of maintaining ties among Muslims and respecting the non-Muslim community in the country. He advocated for respecting different opinions without resorting to insults or judgment.

During the event, Anwar announced a contribution of RM100,000 to Masjid Jamek Perai to support its role in religious activities and the spiritual development of children. Masjid Jamek Perai, originally built in 1979, underwent a full refurbishment beginning March 29, 2021, replacing the old structure at a cost of RM5.5 million.
