Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will inaugurate the 25th ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-25) in Kuala Lumpur from October 15-17, 2025, under Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship. The event, which assembles ASEAN’s energy ministers and global chief executive officers for an essential dialogue on the region’s energy future, will be launched by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the forum’s global significance is underscored by the participation of Asian Development Bank director general Hideaki Iwasaki, who will present the financing architecture for ASEAN’s energy transformation. AEBF-25 chairman Andy Tirta noted that the forum has served as a platform for shaping regional energy policies for a quarter of a century.
Andy Tirta emphasized that this year’s edition is notable for marking the dissemination of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030, focusing on strengthening regional energy connectivity. The event, which will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, carries the theme ‘Powering ASEAN: Bridging Boundaries, Building Prosperity.’
The AEBF-25 speaker line-up includes some of the world’s most influential energy leaders. The forum aims to elevate ASEAN from a regional dialogue to a global platform, signaling the region’s determination to lead the energy transition.
For the past 25 years, the ASEAN Energy Business Forum has been Southeast Asia’s premier energy event, acting as a catalyst for policy innovation, business deals, and cross-border partnerships. It is organized by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and supported by the ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM).
At AEBF-25, there will be announcements of multi-billion-dollar financial support for green ASEAN infrastructure, with the ASEAN Power Grid as a priority. New financing initiatives and business partnerships will also be launched to support future developments, as highlighted by ACE executive director Datuk Razib Dawood.
The forum will be complemented by key industry figures responsible for implementing the region’s energy vision. These include UEM Lestra Bhd chairman and UEM Group Bhd managing director Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin, Tenaga Nasional Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hasan, Gamuda Engineering Managing Director Justin Chin, Gamuda Australia chief strategy and growth officer Jarred Hardman, and Huawei Digital Power vice president Xia Hesheng.
