PM Anwar Suggests Youth-Focused Measures in Upcoming Budget

Kuala Lumpur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has indicated that the government plans to introduce a special allocation for youth in the Budget 2027, which is scheduled to be presented on October 9.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who also serves as the Finance Minister, emphasized the importance of addressing the concerns of the younger generation, including issues related to education costs and support for students from low-income families. He mentioned the struggles faced by university students who are unable to afford basic necessities and promised to address these issues in the upcoming budget.

Anwar made these remarks while speaking at the Youth Economic Forum 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. He highlighted the need to support poor students who are forced into debt due to financial constraints, asserting that Malaysia is a wealthy nation capable of addressing such challenges.

He also shared that he had discussions with scholars and scientists to ensure Malaysia's progress in various fields. Anwar stressed the importance of empowering the younger generation to explore new disciplines and committed to enhancing the quality of education. He encouraged the mastery of multiple languages, including Malay, English, Chinese, Arabic, French, and German, to better equip the youth for the future.

The event was attended by Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari, Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, and Perdana Fellows Alumni Association president Fanitsyara Kam Phon.
