Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended well-wishes to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the occasion of his 100th birthday. In a Facebook post today, Anwar also described Dr Mahathir’s healthy lifestyle and lifelong service as an example to a nation that is growing older.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s sincere prayers for Dr Mahathir’s continued well-being, peace of mind, and physical strength to live a meaningful life. Anwar highlighted that Dr Mahathir’s healthy lifestyle and unwavering service serve as an example for an ageing nation that remains full of hope.
Dr Mahathir was born on July 10, 1925, in Alor Setar and served as Prime Minister for 22 years from 1981 to 2003. He returned to the role from 2018 to 2020, becoming the world’s oldest prime minister at the age of 92 during his second term.
