PM Anwar Gives Enforcement Chiefs One Week to Decide on Their Positions

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a directive to senior enforcement leaders, granting them one week to decide whether they will continue in their current roles or opt for reassignment. Anwar, who holds the position of Finance Minister as well, emphasized that those unable to carry out their responsibilities due to challenges or tempting external offers should communicate their decision to him, their respective ministers, or department heads.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar made this announcement during a special address to heads of enforcement departments and agencies involved in combating financial crime. The event saw the attendance of key figures such as Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, and National Anti-Financial Crime Centre director-general Datuk Seri Shamsun Baharin Mohd Jamil.

Anwar advised leaders who are not ready to take on their responsibilities to make way for those who are sincere and capable. He urged senior enforcement officials to use the one-week period he provided to reflect on their commitment seriously. He expressed respect for those who choose to step down and move to a lower position if they feel unable to handle the challenges of their current roles.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the MADANI Government will not tolerate misconduct or smuggling and emphasized the importance of working as a united team to address problems collectively. He reminded the high-ranking officials, who have decades of service and recognition, to act with integrity and wisdom and cautioned against adopting a casual attitude toward their responsibilities.
