Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today flagged off the Malaysia Sarong Music Run 2026 in front of the Petronas Twin Towers here.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his gratitude to participants of all ages and backgrounds for taking part in the run, which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle within the community. In his brief speech before the commencement of the event, Anwar stated, 'Women and men are committed to staying fit, looking after our health and taking care of our beloved Malaysia. Come on, let's run together in our sarongs!'

The event was graced by the presence of Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing. Anwar, donning sportswear complemented by a sarong sash, later participated in a three-kilometre walk with other attendees.

The Malaysia Sarong Music Run, now in its third year, aims to celebrate Malaysia's rich culture and heritage while promoting an active lifestyle. The event integrates cultural elements along the route, providing participants with an immersive experience of Malaysia's traditions.
