Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today extended Mother's Day greetings to all mothers, expressing appreciation for their sacrifices, love and unwavering devotion. In a post on his Facebook page, Anwar shared a series of poetic verses or 'pantun' dedicated to honouring the role and contributions of mothers.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister included heartfelt verses that highlight the profound impact of a mother's love. Anwar's post read: 'Burung melayang di puncak angkasa, Hinggap sebentar di pohon jati, Kasih ibu berkalung jasa, Menjadi azimat terangi hati.' The poetic lines reflect on the invaluable role mothers play in nurturing and guiding their children. He concluded his message with a warm "Happy Mother's Day!" to mark the occasion.

In addition to the verses, the Prime Minister also shared a personal tribute by uploading a photograph of his late mother, Che Yan Hamid Hussein, alongside his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. This gesture was a heartfelt homage to the two significant women in his life, underscoring the personal significance of Mother's Day to him.

Mother's Day is celebrated worldwide on the second Sunday of May each year. This year's national-level Mother's Day celebration carries the theme 'Seteguh Kasih Ibu', emphasizing the steadfast and enduring love of mothers everywhere.
