PM Anwar Delivers On Promise: RON95 Fuel Price Reduced To RM1.99 Per Litre

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent announcement regarding initiatives aimed at alleviating the people’s cost of living highlights the MADANI government’s commitment to delivering on its promises, according to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the announcement includes a significant reduction in the RON95 fuel price to RM1.99 per litre, making it one of the lowest prices globally. Minister Nga noted that this move underscores the government’s dedication to addressing cost-of-living issues, even amidst financial constraints. He expressed gratitude on behalf of 22,000 families in the Housing and Local Government Ministry for the Prime Minister’s efforts, emphasizing that Anwar has kept his word about reducing fuel prices upon becoming Prime Minister.

Despite current financial limitations, the government has managed to achieve a reduction in fuel prices, maintain toll rates, introduce the SARA (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah) initiative, and offer various other incentives. These measures were discussed at a press conference following the ASEAN Real Estate Conference (AREC) 2025 and the International Architecture, Interior Design, and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX) 2025.

Minister Nga highlighted the one-off RM100 aid under the SARA program for all Malaysians aged 18 and above. This initiative reflects the government’s effort to support not only the B40 group but also the often-overlooked M40 group. He mentioned that the RM2 billion allocation, benefiting 22 million Malaysians, is expected to generate a multiplier effect on the economy, with the postponement of toll rate hikes acting as an anti-inflationary measure.

Furthermore, Minister Nga emphasized the MADANI government’s ongoing nation-building efforts and called for unity among Malaysians to help the country regain global respect. He acknowledged that the government sometimes faces the need to make challenging and unpopular decisions for the benefit of future generations. He also hinted at more positive developments in the upcoming Budget 2026, scheduled for October.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar announced several key initiatives as a gesture of appreciation from the MADANI Government, including the one-off RM100 aid under the SARA program, a freeze on toll hikes for 10 highways, and a targeted subsidy reducing the RON95 fuel price.

Additionally, Minister Nga highlighted the government’s commitment to housing reforms through initiatives like PR1MA, affordable housing, and low-cost homes. He urged for continued support over multiple terms to fully realize the government’s vision, stating that they are only halfway through the first term and need more time to deliver on their promises.
