Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on his victory in Canada’s federal election. Anwar stated that the election signifies a new chapter for Canada and underscores the nation’s dedication to independence, resilience, and principled leadership during uncertain times.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his eagerness to collaborate closely with Prime Minister Carney to enhance bilateral relations, particularly through the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). He emphasized the importance of maintaining international trade as a catalyst for shared prosperity and stability.

Anwar conveyed confidence that under Carney’s leadership, Canada will continue to be a strong and consistent advocate for constructive international engagement. His comments were shared in a Facebook post today.

The media has reported that Carney secured victory in the Canadian election and is leading his Liberal Party to another term in power.
