PM Anwar Chairs Meeting on Kulim’s Development

Kulim: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired the Kulim District Development Meeting held at the Kulim Municipal Council here. The Prime Minister arrived at the local authority building at 4.10 pm and was received by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Kedah State Secretary Datuk Seri Norizan Khazali.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting addressed pressing issues at the district level, including project implementation, delayed projects, and ensuring the smooth execution of ongoing initiatives. Discussions included upgrading classrooms to accommodate six-year-old pupils entering Year One, as well as road construction, flood mitigation projects, and the construction of a water treatment plant.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to move beyond traditional bureaucratic processes to expedite development, provided financial procedures are adhered to. Anwar also shared on Facebook that projects beneficial to the people, such as classroom expansions and school repairs, must proceed without bureaucratic delays.

Anwar highlighted the importance of district officers and their teams in monitoring vital projects, especially those requiring urgent attention. He noted that this was the third District Development Meeting he attended after Bentong in January and Kinta in February, underscoring the importance of ensuring announced policies and projects reach effective implementation at the district level.

The Prime Minister also called for a focus on resolving long-standing local issues, such as flash floods, landslides, street lighting, and inadequate infrastructure in residential and industrial areas. He urged for better coordination of information regarding project requirements and allocations to speed up implementation, stressing that local problems must not be prolonged and that solutions should be tangible and effective for the community.
