PM Anwar Advises New Cabinet on Policy Understanding Before Decision-Making

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a reminder to newly appointed Cabinet members to thoroughly study and understand the management and policies of their respective ministries before making any decisions. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who also serves as the Unity Government spokesman, shared that Anwar emphasized this point during a recent Cabinet Ministers' meeting.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar welcomed the new ministers and stressed the importance of analyzing and gaining a deep understanding of all management aspects and policies before acting. He advised ministers to avoid hasty decisions and allow time for officers and civil servants to present their opinions. Fahmi noted that there is currently no set timeline for the new ministers to achieve specific results, allowing them time to acclimate to administrative systems and procedures.

Regarding the appointment of Hannah Yeoh as a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department overseeing Federal Territories, Fahmi assured that her decisions and actions would be monitored and referred to the Prime Minister. Hannah's role involves the Federal Territories portfolio, unlike previous ministers who headed specific departments. Fahmi explained that for ministers in the Prime Minister's Department, the Prime Minister acts as the head, with decisions and actions being referred to him. Post-Cabinet Meetings, attended by all ministers in the Prime Minister's Department, ensure management oversight and provide opportunities for the Prime Minister to offer advice or instructions when necessary.
