Kuala lumpur: PKR recorded more than 5,000 new members between April and this month, said PKR information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, emphasized that this increase was achieved without any major programmes or specific promotional efforts by the party. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi highlighted that PKR, with a membership exceeding one million, experienced organic growth as the number of new members surpassed 5,000 during this period. He assured that PKR will continue to serve as the backbone of the Unity Government, playing a crucial role in ensuring the reform agenda and the people's aspirations are realized. Fahmi made these remarks when asked about claims that a new party had received approximately 18,000 membership applications within five days of its relaunch. He was speaking at the Lembah Pantai Korban Perdana Perpaduan programme in conjunction with Aidiladha. On the topic of this year's korban programme, Fahmi mentioned that the Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament's Office had contributed 72 cows throughout the constituency. He added that 10 of these cows were managed at the main site of the Lembah Pantai Korban Perdana Perpaduan programme. The contributions were distributed to local surau, mosques, residents' associations, and neighborhood committees in the area. The programme was attended by representatives from Unity Government component parties, including Lembah Pantai Amanah, UMNO, and PKR. Fahmi expressed his belief that such programmes can strengthen ties and foster a spirit of unity among the public, communities, and friends within the Unity Government component parties.
