PKPS To Export Sunflower Oil, Margarine To Australia Next Month – Exco

Selangor: The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) is set to begin exporting cooking oil, sunflower oil, and margarine to international markets starting next month, as announced by the state Agriculture and Infrastructure Committee chairman, Datuk Izham Hashim. This initiative marks a significant step in expanding the state’s agricultural reach globally.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the export operation is a collaborative effort between PKPS and Agro 19 Bhd. The first shipment to Australia is scheduled within the next two weeks, with an initial export volume of approximately 30 tonnes of products under the Ehsan brand. This venture is expected to open up a new revenue stream for Selangor.

Datuk Izham Hashim emphasized the state government’s commitment to the development of the Selangor agricultural sector to ensure sustainable growth and support national food security goals. He highlighted the agency’s plans to expand the production of PKPS products for international markets.

The initiative also involves a comprehensive assessment of the food supply chain to identify areas where assistance can be provided, utilizing both state and federal resources. PKPS will play a pivotal role as the lead implementing agency, ensuring smooth operations across the supply chain, from land preparation and seeding to production and marketing.

Activities such as seeding and breeding, which are both costly and have slow returns, will receive targeted support to maintain an efficient supply chain. This approach aims to bolster the agricultural sector in Selangor, enhancing its capacity to compete on a global scale.
