Deputy Prime Minister and Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said issues involving human resources, assets, finances, programmes, data sharing, and service schemes must be resolved within that period to ensure they do not hinder the coordination of the two ecosystems.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid emphasized the necessity of establishing a clear timeline, schedule, division of responsibilities, and outcome indicators during the PKD-NADI Strategic Collaboration Workshop. He expressed hope that after the workshop, he and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil could finalise a Cabinet memorandum between their ministries for presentation to the Cabinet within a month.
Ahmad Zahid further noted that the coordination should be founded on mutual understanding and respect to ensure effective implementation of agreed decisions. He urged that the agreed PKD-NADI ecosystem should remain intact even with potential changes in ministers or government in the future, advising the secretaries-general of both ministries not to alter the agreed-upon plans once endorsed by the Cabinet.
He also highlighted that the PKD-NADI coordination should aim to create an ecosystem that strengthens rural development and local economies rather than merely combining two platforms. Ahmad Zahid pointed out the importance of recognizing the rural economy not just as a complement to the national economy but as a significant economic strength due to its inherent talent, products, land, heritage, and resources.
"Our responsibility is to connect all this potential with broader economic opportunities," he said, emphasizing the need to integrate rural potential into the wider economic landscape.
