Pasik rps: More than 1,000 Temiar Orang Asli residents at the Pasik Resettlement Scheme (RPS) can now purchase essential goods at lower prices through the Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM) using their SARA credit.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kampung Ayong resident Ramli Chimbong, 51, expressed relief as the new initiative eliminates the need for a two-and-a-half-hour journey to Kampung Jerek for necessities like rice, cooking oil, and sugar. Ramli highlighted the significant savings on transportation and other related costs, which previously amounted to at least RM600. With PJRM now accessible within the village, residents can purchase goods like a nine-kilogramme bag of rice for RM29, compared to RM40 at local shops.

SMS Maju Solution owner Sabariah Mohamed Sayuti mentioned that the company provided 100 types of essential goods, including 300 bags of rice, 300 trays of eggs, and 300 chickens, with residents arriving early to make purchases. She noted that many residents still have substantial balances in their Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA) on their MyKad, with amounts ranging from RM300 to RM800. This initiative marks the company's first participation in PJRM at Pos Pasik, offering remote residents easier access to essential goods, despite challenges such as a vehicle tyre bursting on the rocky and muddy roads.

Nenggiri assemblyman Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani acknowledged the government's initiative to organize PJRM as a means to assist rural communities in managing rising living costs. He expressed hope for the expansion of similar programmes to all Orang Asli settlements, facilitating broader access to government-provided facilities.
