Kuala lumpur: Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia has earned a place in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) after ironing 49 school shirts in 60 minutes using its upgraded PerfectCare Steam Generator (PSG).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the feat was recognised under the 'Most School Shirts Ironed in One Hour 2026' category following an attempt involving short-sleeved shirts at the Harvey Norman Flagship Store, Mid Valley Megamall here.
Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia Commercial Director Patt Sue-Ann highlighted that meaningful innovation should address real everyday challenges. She noted that for many Malaysian families, ironing school uniforms can be time-consuming. The upgraded Philips PerfectCare Steam Generator aims to offer a practical solution, helping families save time and enjoy more meaningful moments together.
Meanwhile, MBOR spokesperson Megat Faris Megat Muzzafar Shah certified the achievement as an official record after assessing the attempt. He expressed pride in being part of this achievement by Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia and emphasized that the challenge aligns with the Malaysia Book of Records' mission of documenting and celebrating Malaysian achievements for over 30 years. The recognition is also seen as a way to strengthen consumer confidence and trust in the brand.
Philips stated that the appliance could reduce average ironing time by up to half. The PSG 8000 series delivers a continuous steam rate of 215 grammes per minute, with selected models offering a steam boost of between 750 and 850 grammes. Other features include OptimalTemp technology, a detachable 1.4-litre water tank, and an automatic shut-off function after four minutes of inactivity.
The record attempt was carried out by creative consultant and fashion stylist Nik Erwan Nik Roseli, who has nearly 20 years of experience in fashion design and styling. Nik Erwan explained that using the right iron could protect garments and save time, especially when handling intricate areas such as collars, buttons, and pleats. He managed to complete one shirt in under a minute using the Philips PSG.
Harvey Norman Malaysia Assistant General Manager for Small Appliances and Personal Care Yvonne Chin commented that the record reflected the retailer's shared commitment with Philips to introduce innovations that make a meaningful difference in everyday life.
