Kota kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) continues to strengthen its position as one of the main pillars in the state’s political landscape, supported by experienced leadership and a vision that emphasises inclusivity and the unification of the people, said its secretary-general Datuk Mohamed Razali Razi. He highlighted that the strength of PGRS, which is now 12 years old, lies in its leadership composition consisting of experienced political figures including party president who is also Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as well as Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Razali stated that the PGRS membership, which includes various ethnicities such as Malays, Kadazans, Chinese, and others, made inclusivity the core of the party’s struggle. He emphasized the need for unity among the people of Sabah, urging them to work together for the betterment of the state as true Malaysians.
Razali outlined the party’s mission in the upcoming Sabah state election, focusing on continuing the development agenda through the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) and SMJ 2.0 roadmap, while avoiding political rhetoric or a culture of hate politics. He stressed that PGRS is committed to taking tangible actions for the betterment of Sabah.
He also addressed claims that PGRS was acting as a ‘big brother’ in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), asserting that cooperation within the coalition is built on consensus and complementarity. Razali emphasized that PGRS values inclusivity and aims to achieve common objectives through mutual support.
Razali further described PGRS’s cooperation with the federal government under the MADANI Government as harmonious, despite criticisms from opposition parties who promote the slogan ‘Sabah for Sabahans’. He clarified that being a true Sabahan also means being a true Malaysian, and the party is confident in addressing any issues arising from this perspective.
Regarding the 35 seats contested by PGRS in the election, Razali expressed confidence in the people’s support for the party. He noted that PGRS, established in 2013 by Dr Ationg Tituh with Stephen Jimbangan as the first president, is committed to its vision of inclusivity and development for Sabah.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 29 as polling day while Nov 25 is early voting day.
