Batu pahat: The General Operations Force (GOF) foiled the misappropriation of 222,700 kilograms of crude palm oil, with total seizures worth RM2.6 million during ‘Op Taring Palma’ at Jalan Muar Kampung Parit Awang, near Batu Pahat, last Thursday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, GOF 6th Battalion commanding officer Supt Shohaiami Ismail said seven local men were arrested in the operation, which was carried out with the battalion’s Intelligence Branch in Muar, the 5th Battalion’s Intelligence Branch in Simpang Renggam and the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

He said five tanker lorries used to transfer the crude palm oil without authorisation were seized, along with oil suction pumps, a generator set, a bulk storage tank and other equipment.

‘All suspects and the seized items were handed over to the MPOB southern region office for investigation under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Act 1998 (Act 582),’ he said in a statement today.

Shohaiami said the success reflected the commitment of the Internal Security and Public Order Department (JKDNKA), particularly the Central GOF Brigade and the 6th Battalion, in combating misappropriation of national commodities.

He added that such operations will continue to ensure transparency in the country’s palm oil supply chain, while urging the public to cooperate by providing information on illegal activities.
