Kuala Lumpur: Petronas LNG Sdn Bhd (PLSB), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), has entered into a strategic liquefied natural gas (LNG) arrangement with the Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC). In a statement today, Petronas announced that PLSB has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with JOGMEC to expand the collaboration framework in the LNG sector.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the cooperation aims to facilitate further discussions on strengthening LNG supply to Japan. This includes measures to ensure supply stability and manage potential disruptions. The agreement was signed during the Energy Asia 2025 conference held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre last week, highlighting the focus on enhancing LNG supply to Japan.
Petronas LNG’s vice-president of marketing and trading, Shamsairi Mohd Ibrahim, emphasized that this partnership underscores Petronas’ role as a reliable LNG supplier to Japan since 1983. He noted that the collaboration is timely, aligning with the momentum of Energy Asia, where regional collaboration and energy security were central to the dialogues.
The memorandum of cooperation was officially signed by Shamsairi and JOGMEC executive vice-president of energy business, Hiroyuki Mori.
