Petronas Appoints Maimunah Mohd Sharif As Property Adviser, Effective Nov 17


Kuala lumpur: Petronas has appointed Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif as its Property Adviser, effective November 17, 2025. Maimunah will guide in shaping the next phase of growth in Petronas’ property portfolio, focusing primarily on the Sungai Besi land, Kota Madani, and other development properties.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Maimunah brings over 40 years of experience in sustainable urban developments to her new role. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Town Planning from the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her recent role was serving as Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.

Petronas highlighted Maimunah’s significant accomplishments in Malaysia, including being the first woman president of the Seberang Prai Municipal Council and her tenure as the Mayor of Penang. Her global leadership roles include being the first Asian woman appointed as Under-Secretary-General and executive director of the UN Human Sett
lements Programme (UN-Habitat), and also Acting Director-General of the UN Office in Nairobi.

The management of Petronas expressed its confidence in Maimunah’s appointment, stating that her knowledge and experience will be a valuable addition to the company.
