Petrol Subsidy: 155 Transport Companies In Kelantan Registered Under SKPS

Kelantan: A total of 155 public and goods transport companies in Kelantan have registered under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) to receive RON95 petrol subsidies as of Oct 14. Kelantan Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) director Azman Ismail reported that 94 companies are engaged in the public land transport sector, while 61 operate within the goods transport sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, complaints have emerged regarding SKPS, with applicants facing issues such as ineligibility due to their vehicles not being registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). Additional technical problems include incorrect registration details, forgotten passwords, and duplicate registrations. Azman Ismail addressed these issues while speaking to reporters after reviewing the Deepavali Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) at Mydin Hypermarket in Kubang Kerian.

In anticipation of the forthcoming Northeast Monsoon season, Azman announced that nearly 290 retailers and wholesalers have been appointed to ensure adequate supplies of essential goods. He noted that these retailers and wholesalers are authorized to maintain an additional 30 percent stock of controlled items beyond the normal storage limits during emergency situations.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecasted between five and seven continuous heavy rain episodes during the 2025/2026 Northeast Monsoon, expected to commence in early November and extend until March 2026. Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip, the department’s director-general, indicated that heavy rains in the early phase of the monsoon, from November to December 2025, are likely to impact Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang. Between December 2025 and January 2026, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak may also experience continuous heavy rainfall episodes.
