PETRA Promotes Sustainable Energy Education Among Students.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry is actively promoting sustainable energy, including renewable energy, among students through interactive learning and educational field trips. Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir stated that the ministry has partnered with the Ministry of Education to create a platform aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of renewable energy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of integrating sustainable energy education into subjects such as science, mathematics, engineering, and technology. He discussed these initiatives after officiating the Sustainable Energy Development Authority’s (SEDA) Young Energy Explorer (YEEPE) Programme at Petrosains, the Discovery Centre, Suria KLCC.

Akmal explained that the YEEPE programme, introduced in 2023, offers four primary activities focusing on sustainable energy. These activities include the YEEPE Roadshow, Petrosains RBTX Challenge 2023, Sustainable Visit Ex
perience, and the Renewable Energy Video Competition, alongside the SEDA YEEPE Studio. Since March, the studio has attracted nearly 50,000 visitors.

The SEDA YEEPE Studio, in collaboration with Petrosains, serves as an interactive hub focused on sustainable energy. It provides exposure to SEDA Malaysia’s sustainable energy programmes through engaging activities and games, aiming to enhance visitors’ creativity and understanding of the sustainable energy sector’s importance and challenges.
