Kuala lumpur: The development of Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd’s (Perodua) electric vehicle (EV) model will strengthen the capabilities of the national automotive industry and reflect its commitment to green technology, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized that the development of EVs also underscores a commitment to creating job opportunities for the people and offering affordable products with high social impact.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared his insights after reviewing Perodua’s operations and meeting with the workforce, who he described as the backbone of the company’s success, in Sungai Choh, Rawang, Selangor. During a briefing session, he was informed about Perodua’s current performance and its plans for the upcoming launch of its first EV model, which is set to be unveiled soon.

Anwar highlighted that this initiative aligns with the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasizes sustainable progress, inclusiveness, and the well-being of the people. He expressed that this endeavor demonstrates how economic progress and human values can coexist, indicating that innovation and environmental responsibility are complementary aspects of the aspiration for a MADANI nation that champions a green and competitive economy.

He expressed confidence in Perodua’s role as a key catalyst in fortifying the country’s automotive ecosystem and driving Malaysia towards a more sustainable, creative, and people-oriented future of mobility.
