Kuala lumpur: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has announced a reduction in the price of its Axia model, recognized as Malaysia's most affordable compact car, with a decrease of up to RM4,700 effective immediately.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the national automotive company stated that this price adjustment is a result of ongoing improvements in the company's operational efficiency. Perodua aims to pass these savings directly to its customers, aligning with its commitment to provide tangible value amid current economic conditions.

In Peninsular Malaysia, the Axia 1.0G is now priced at RM33,900 (a reduction of RM4,700 from RM38,600), the 1.0X at RM38,500 (a decrease of RM1,500 from RM40,000), the 1.0SE at RM43,000 (down RM1,000 from RM44,000), and the 1.0AV at RM49,000 (down RM500 from RM49,500). These revised prices exclude insurance.

Perodua's president and chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, stated, "This price revision forms part of our ongoing efforts to ease the cost pressures currently faced by Malaysians." He further mentioned that the new pricing reflects the company's efforts to enhance operational effectiveness, which has also resulted in reduced service costs and revised pricing for the QV-E and Battery as a Service (BaaS) offerings.

The specifications and quality of the Axia remain unchanged, with the savings being attributed to process improvements and operational efficiencies. Zainal Abidin noted that the revised pricing is a result of continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with local suppliers and partners.

The Axia has been a reliable transportation option for Malaysians, and this price adjustment underscores Perodua's commitment to making the model accessible to a wider consumer base nationwide. Zainal Abidin expressed gratitude towards vendors and dealers for their cooperation in enhancing cost efficiency, benefiting the industry and Malaysians collectively.
