Perlis: The Perlis state government has expressed its highest appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) for approving an allocation of RM18.9 million to develop the state's agricultural sector from 2024 to this year. Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah stated that the allocation is channelled through the Food Security Strengthening Programme and the National Agri-Food Empowerment Programme.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry's continued support is highly significant in strengthening the state's overall agri-food development agenda. Abu Bakar emphasized the importance of close engagement by administration members and civil servants, urging them to understand the needs of target groups and deliver services swiftly and effectively to ensure the well-being of every household receives due attention.
The Menteri Besar expressed these remarks at the opening ceremony of Perlis Agrofest 2026, which was officiated by the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, at Sungai Batu Pahat. The event also saw the presence of the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
The three-day Perlis Agrofest, commencing yesterday, is a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the development of the state's agriculture, livestock, and agri-food industries.
