Perlis Suspends Smart Parking System For Six Months After Complaints

Perlis: The smart parking system introduced here, in mid-June has been suspended for six months with immediate effect, following public complaints over its convenience and user-friendliness. Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said the decision was made during the State Executive Council meeting today, after reviewing the need for improvements in various aspects of the system.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Shukri stated that the implementation has not met the level of comfort expected by users. As such, the suspension takes effect immediately, and no parking fees will be collected during this period until all agreed improvements are fully in place. He made these remarks at a press conference after chairing the meeting at the Seri Putra Complex.

Mohd Shukri further mentioned that the Kangar Municipal Council (MPK) has been instructed to engage with the parking system operator to ensure that necessary enhancements are made in line with user feedback. The areas of improvement include better-designed entrance lanes, more intuitive app usage, and alternative payment options that are easier for users. He also indicated that if improvements can be completed sooner, the suspension may be lifted earlier.

Additionally, the state government will reassess current parking locations to ensure they are appropriate and better aligned with public needs.
